Divorce is not just a financial transaction.  There are many emotions that accompany this major transition in life: fear, anger, sadness, resentment, and the list goes on.  As your attorney, I can speak knowledgably, with an understanding of the law and the benefit of experience, to what the courts can or cannot do, and we can decide to act based on that knowledge; but no lawyer can control the emotional impact experienced during this process.  And that is not to be dismissed by any good family law attorney.

Sage Advice

My paralegal of almost 20 years, Patty, is my trusted partner when I work with clients and I hear her often coaching our clients to focus on what they can control:  you cannot control how the other party acts in a divorce, but you can control how you react to those actions.  If you can accept that and use that advice to refocus your mindset, you will be better prepared for the divorce process.

No doubt this can be frustrating, you want someone to tell you that you are right and the other party is wrong, but we pride ourselves on providing straight forward advice and options based on a deep understanding of the law, never forgetting there will be many emotions.  We are here to help you refocus your mindset through this process so you can move forward.
